Training
Introduction
As part of the Return to Tenderness project, training workshops were run as part of our storytelling initiative in collaboration with the ACTION FOR PEACE organisation, specialising in musical tuning. The joint effort focused on preserving Syrian musical heritage and enhancing the capabilities of young individuals to actively contribute to the conservation of their intangible cultural heritage.
The objective was upskilling participants using digital equipment and methodologies to support the conservation of the cultural heritage.
The workshop included theoretical and practical training sessions, allowing participants to exchange knowledge and actively engage in the learning process. The first day emphasised the concept of documentation, its importance in research, and practical exercises related to the documentation process. The second day focused on the significance of social media in documentation, methods of extracting information from these platforms, and practical exercises in documenting from social media sites.
On the third day, attention shifted to mobile phone camera usage, adjusting camera settings, the relationship between photography and documentation, accessories for professional mobile photography, and audio recording via mobile phones. The training, conducted from 10 am to 2 pm daily, incorporated a mix of theoretical and practical elements. Positive feedback and demonstrated interest from participants, as well as cognitive test results, highlighted increased knowledge and a desire for future workshops.
